Football: Abandoned from the Start, I Rise to the Top of World Football

Lin Chen, who died suddenly on the national soccer team’s training ground, opens his eyes to find that he has transmigrated to a parallel world in 2010. He’s now a good-for-nothing player sent by the Football Association to train with Fortuna Düsseldorf’s youth academy in the Bundesliga. On the day of his final assessment, the coach announces in front of everyone that he’s been cut. The whole crowd mocks him, saying people of Asian descent simply can’t play professional soccer. Just as he picks up his luggage and steps out of the academy gates, the [Soccer King System] activates with a roar! Subbed on for his farewell match, he silences every doubter with a thunderous long-range strike, then scores a hat trick in stoppage time to lead his team to a comeback. Moments later, a scout from a relegation-threatened club corners him in the players’ tunnel and offers him a professional contract. From then on, soccer has an unstoppable striker from the East. So what if his team is fighting relegation? He carries them on his back as they take down Bayern and Dortmund, pull off a stunning Bundesliga title win, and break a single-season scoring record that has stood for forty years! He heads to the Premier League and sweeps aside England’s elite. In the Champions League, he takes down Real Madrid and Barcelona one after another, goes head-to-head with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and personally brings the era of the two greats to an end! Wearing his national team jersey, he leads a team that once couldn’t beat anyone past Japan, South Korea, Iran, and Australia, all the way to the World Cup final, where he scores a stoppage-time winner against Argentina and lifts the World Cup! Years later, a reporter asks him, “Do you consider yourself the greatest striker in history?” Lin Chen smiles and points to the wall of scoring records behind him. “It’s nothing. I’m just making up for all the goals I didn’t get a chance to score in my previous life.”
