Three Kingdoms: Starting with Refusing to Serve as the White Horse Vanguard

His soul enters the body of Zhang Jin, courtesy name Zidu, younger brother of Zhang He, in the fifth year of Jian’an. Knowing Yuan Shao is doomed to lose, he refuses to serve as a vanguard sent to die at Baima. Using his brother’s cover, he secretly contacts Xu You to sound him out. At Guandu, he leads his personal troops in defecting to Cao Cao, helping defeat Chunyu Qiong in exchange for a foothold. He gathers surrendered Yellow Turbans from Qingzhou and displaced scholars from Yingchuan. When his attempt to escort Emperor Xian westward fails, he instead carves out a domain along the Hanzhong–Baxi corridor and accepts the abdication.
