Joining the Army in the 1970S: My Tea Garden Connects to the Present

Agricultural sciences PhD Lin Qinghe wakes up to find she has transmigrated into the most miserable military wife of the 1970s. Her husband, Gu Yanze, is nicknamed “King of Hell.” He is cold-faced, tough as iron, and sparing with words. On their wedding night, he vanished for three months on an urgent mission without leaving so much as a note. At the military family compound, a spiteful neighbor steals her vegetable patch, her mother-in-law comes looking for trouble, and a scheming rival closes in step by step under the guise of being his “little sister.” Everyone is waiting to see the city girl make a fool of herself. Lin Qinghe doesn’t cry or complain. She takes on the spiteful neighbor head-on by citing the regulations, making a name for herself in one fell swoop. Then she cures the political commissar’s wife’s chronic migraines with a cup of wellness tea, leaving the entire compound amazed. No one knows that the jade pendant on her chest contains a pocket realm with a miraculous spring. It was a keepsake given to her by her mentor on his deathbed in her previous life, and it was reborn with her across time and space. She uses the spring water to nourish the abandoned ancient tea trees in the backyard, bringing rare purple buds, long extinct in the modern world, back to life. From a few wild tea trees to supplies specially procured by the military district, from an outcast new bride to an indispensable technical specialist, she leads military wives in reclaiming wasteland to grow medicinal herbs, improving army rations, and founding a tea plantation. Even the cold-faced King of Hell gradually melts in the fragrance of her tea. They go from “living our own lives” to him declaring in front of the entire regiment: “My wife. Anyone who dares lay a hand on her will answer to me.” Later, someone asks what she is most proud of in this life. She smiles and says: “I brewed a cold-faced man into a cup of hot tea.” [Marriage first, love later · Face-slapping and putting villains in their place · Miraculous spring tea cultivation · Love of country and family] [One cup of tea bridges past and present; two lifetimes, one enduring fragrance]
