Siheyuan: A Butcher from the Start, Slaughtering the Flock

[Period setting + Love in the Courtyard + butcher + not a saint]

Li Jianjun transmigrates into Love in the Courtyard, becoming a top-grade butcher who can cut a carcass in one stroke at the slaughterhouse attached to a steel mill.

From the start, he’s dealt a nightmare hand: Yi Zhonghai has pocketed the compensation money for a fallen soldier’s family, the Jia family’s mother and daughter-in-law show up to grab his home and food, and Silly Zhu acts as their muscle.

Li Jianjun won’t put up with it. He grabs his boning knife and cripples the so-called War God Silly Zhu with one move, kicks the top-tier green tea Qin Huairu flying, then calls the police and gets Jia Zhangshi thrown in jail!

Yi Zhonghai calls a neighborhood meeting, hoping to guilt-trip Li Jianjun into handing over the braised pork he’s cooked so it can be shared with everyone.

In front of the whole neighborhood, Li Jianjun exposes Yi Zhonghai’s theft of the compensation money and announces his price: “Want meat? One and a half yuan a jin. Take it or leave it!”

Yi Zhonghai is so furious he spits blood, and Third Uncle Yan Bugui has a complete meltdown.

With an acre of rich black soil that comes with him wherever he goes, Li Jianjun feasts on meat behind closed doors with his younger sister every day, while everyone else gnaws on steamed corn buns and pickled vegetables.

The beasts in the courtyard are so jealous their eyes turn green, and they even smash the wall in the middle of the night. Li Jianjun sharpens his butcher’s knife. “Anyone who reaches in, I’ll chop off their paw!”
