Journey to the West: Tang Sanzang Abandons Buddhism Because of Humanity's Evil

An overworked office drone transmigrates to the Tang Dynasty as Faming, a monk at Golden Mountain Temple, and raises the young Xuanzang. He sees Yin Wenjiao endure the harsh judgment of society, then die unjustly by suicide after finally reuniting with her family. He also witnesses Chen Guangrui's cold-heartedness. Together, master and disciple see through the absurdity of the world and the cruelty of its feudal conventions. Unwilling to let Xuanzang become a rule-bound Tang Monk who spends his life in numb Buddhahood, Faming resolves to shatter the destined course of the Journey to the West and defy fate, seeking justice for the world's oppressed and settling the grievances of those closest to him.
