The Day She Died, I Became Her

On Su Nian’s first day at Xingchen Technology, CEO Lu Siheng set his sights on her.

Not because of her talent, but because she looked like his fiancée, Wen Wan, who had been in a car accident and was far away in Japan “recovering.” The same leaf-shaped birthmark on her right ring finger. The same face. Lu Siheng needed someone to take Wen Wan’s place in a business marriage, and Su Nian wasn’t even allowed to refuse. Five hundred thousand yuan in compensation in exchange for moving up her mother’s kidney transplant schedule. He crushed all her self-respect with just three words: “Because you’re poor.”

Sign. Get plastic surgery. Give your fingerprints. Under the identity of “Wen Wan,” Su Nian stepped into the wealthy alliance between the Lu and Shen families, only to be exposed in public on her wedding day: “She’s not Wen Wan! She’s Shen Zhiyi!” A DNA report tore open the truth: she wasn’t some destitute stand-in. She was the Shen family’s real heiress, missing for three years. Three years ago, her best friend Lin Zhixia had pushed her off a cliff at Nanshan, leaving her disfigured and amnesiac. Everyone thought she was dead. The mastermind was her stepmother, Jiang Yuqin, the woman who had poisoned her birth mother’s water and spent over a decade scheming to devour the Shen family’s assets.

From pawn to player, from stand-in to avenger. Su Nian pieced her shattered life back together, bit by bit. With Lu Siheng’s “less than pure” protection, she fought her way back onto the Shen Group’s board of directors and sent Jiang Yuqin to court with ledgers, autopsy reports, and irrefutable evidence. When all was settled, she stood at the edge of the Nanshan cliff and laid a white rose on the stone where she had fallen all those years ago.

“My name is Su Nian. I’m also Shen Zhiyi. I choose to be myself.”
