Whoever Looks Back Is a Dog

A gorgeous, voluptuous beauty who's greedy and loves handsome men & a cold-faced, hard-hearted, stubborn, possessive, and sinister man

Wang Chan was bought off by Jiang Qingyun to seduce He Minzhi. After they got together, she was delighted every day, hoping he'd break up with her soon so she could walk away with a huge settlement.

But things didn't go as she hoped. After a whole year, He Minzhi only grew more devoted and attentive, so she had to keep playing the part of an obedient, sensible sweetheart who loved him.

A friend once asked He Minzhi what Wang Chan meant to him.

With a mocking smile, he said, “There's no smoke without fire. One slap, and she'd be dead on the beach.”

His friend caught his meaning and laughed. “She was with you for a whole year. How can you treat her like that?”

Surrounded by a group of men and women, He Minzhi looked disdainful. “What is she, anyway? Just a thing to warm my bed!”

Outside the private room, Wang Chan clutched the doorknob, her hand clenched into a fist. She pressed herself against the wall, her face pale.

Her mother had died suddenly, and she had yet to emerge from the shadow of that loss. Now He Minzhi's cruel words dealt her a double blow, and she lost control. Without thinking, she charged in and slapped him in front of everyone.

That slap wounded He Minzhi's pride. Hot-blooded and humiliated in front of his friends, he told her to get out, though he didn't mean it. The two fell out and went their separate ways.

When they met again years later, everything had changed beyond recognition.

He was a stinking cockroach and dead rat in the gutter, peering at happiness from afar. She was the one who had found happiness in marriage.
