I Quit the 996 Grind at a Big Tech Firm and Returned to the Islands to Fish

In his final year of college, while everyone else is killing themselves competing for jobs at major companies, Lu Cangyuan packs up and heads straight back to his hometown to inherit a rundown island.

After unlocking a God-Tier Tidal Foraging System, all he wants is a peaceful life by the sea, with all the seafood he can eat.

On a rocky beach at low tide, others pick up little crabs, while he reaches in and pulls out a whole nest of premium wild mud crabs!

In a deep-sea reef zone, others worry about running aground, while he hauls up a net full of bluefin tuna, along with a century-old shipwreck!

But what really makes the internet lose it is the black-and-white “squeaky weirdo” that always follows him around.

Lu Cangyuan: “Guys, I'm saying this one last time: I'm really just an ordinary guy who gathers seafood by the shore!”

His fans all erupt: “Sea King, give it a rest! What ordinary person goes foraging on the shore riding an orca?!”

Even more absurdly, during one livestream, an orca calf flings a premium Spanish mackerel onto the deck in front of tens of thousands of viewers, then rolls over to show its white belly and begs to be petted.

The viewers go crazy: “We've got eyewitnesses and whale witnesses! It even pays for its own food, and you call that not being close?!”
