The sworn enemy who once sent my treasured sword flying with a single strike had now lost all his magic and regressed mentally. In the ruins, he tugged at my sleeve and grinned foolishly. “Big brother, hug me.”

I hauled him back to my courtyard.

I'd fatten him up before settling the score.

He hugged me every night as we slept.

Then, in front of the whole clan, he fed me peeled shrimp straight from his hand.

Everyone was waiting for me to draw my sword.

I kept a straight face and opened my mouth to eat.

At first, I thought I was tormenting him.

Later, I realized I was spoiling him.

“This one of mine is shy around strangers.”

“If you cry again, I'll kiss you.”

“Since he's entered the Xie family, he's one of us.”

His words were cold, but he held him close in his arms.
