From the Start in the 1980s: The Deranged, Rugged Man Forces the Factory Beauty to Love Him

In 1980, at the state-owned Hongxing Machinery Factory, announcer Li Enxi is a cool, untouchable beauty, while Lin Yun, just released from prison, is an outcast everyone avoids.

On a sweltering summer night, a power outage plunges the broadcasting room into darkness. Lin Yun pins her against the edge of the desk. His breath is hot, but he holds himself back. "Don't be afraid... I'll protect you." His fingertips brush her trembling hand. His Adam's apple bobs, and his voice grows husky and scorching. "The soundproofing here is great. Teach me... what does 'getting to know each other deeply' mean?"

Later, he clumsily repairs a radio just so he can listen to her recite poetry. When he slips sweet red bean buns into her lunchbox, his ears turn red. As the untouchable beauty lets down her guard and the outcast tempers his sharp edges, they break through prejudice in the fresh breeze of reform and forge a passionate life together amid the everyday bustle.
