Great Tang: I Kidnapped a Nun, and She Turned Out to Be Wu Zetian

Chen Changying transmigrated to the early Tang Dynasty and became a penniless ruffian in a rundown part of Chang’an.

So poor he could barely feed himself, he steeled himself and kidnapped a stunning nun near Ganye Temple to be his bandit-wife.

He thought he could collect a ransom, but the nun wasn’t afraid at all. Instead, she complained that his bandit hideout was too shabby.

Not only did she refuse to leave, she took charge: “Since you kidnapped me, you have to feed me. From today on, I’ll teach you how to make money, and you’ll keep me safe.”

Chen Changying had no choice but to do as she said.

She told him to open a tavern, and it became the Tang Dynasty’s leading intelligence network.

She told him to train his men, and they became an invincible heavy cavalry armed with crossbows.

She told him to make friends with scholars, and when the imperial examination results came out, all the court’s rising stars were secretly calling him “Lord.”

One day, Chen Changying looked at the hundred thousand elite troops under his command and sighed. “My dear, the powerful ministers of Guanlong have the court in the palm of their hands, and the government is too weak. How about we rebel? I’ll make you Empress!”

The nun chuckled softly, then silently took a bright yellow dragon robe from the cabinet and draped it over herself. Looking down on the world, she said, “Why be empress? I am already the ruler of this realm.”

“Chen Changying, I’ll give you half of the Tang Dynasty!”
