With Your Heart Set on Me, Spring Mountains Await

The day my father the emperor died, I was bestowed in marriage upon the Ninth Thousand Years, a eunuch who held the entire court in his thrall. I despised eunuchs for their cruelty and lowliness, while he mocked me as a fallen phoenix. We spent half our lives hating each other. Then, when he was finally brought down by his enemies, his head was hung above the city gate for three days. But he had secretly prepared a divorce letter for me long before, so I could leave the city safely. Only then did I learn that he had begged for that marriage all those years ago to save my life. When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the night I married Shen Xiao. Shen Xiao looked down at me from on high, his smile dripping with mockery. “So what if you're a princess? You're still marrying a eunuch like me.” I hooked an arm around his neck and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. “You've said that three times already, husband.” The Ninth Thousand Years, who never let his feelings show, instantly blushed to the tips of his ears.
