One Song, “The Former You,” and the Whole Internet Begging Me Not to Quit

Lin Yan transmigrated to a parallel world three years ago. He never got a System, but spent three years as a background member in an obscure boy band. On the final day of his contract, faced with a “stepping-stone” script the company was forcing on him, he threw down his microphone in front of everyone, picked up his guitar, and sang “The You of Those Days.”

“I once dreamed of taking my sword and roaming the world, seeing all its splendor...”

When the song ended, the whole internet was in tears. He waved casually. “I'm done. I'm leaving the industry and going traveling!”

That very night, however, a top-tier star and diva wouldn't let him go. “My studio needs a music director. We'll cover your meals and accommodation, give you a share of the profits, and even let you slack off on the clock. Interested?”

Lin Yan had been about to refuse, but then thought: She's offering way too much!

From then on, the domestic entertainment industry had a uniquely outrageous troublemaker. While other idols went all out to pander to fans, he livestreamed to trade barbs with them. While other stars competed to look their best on the red carpet, he and the diva sat backstage munching sunflower seeds.
