Xie Xuechen, foremost swordsman of the Nine Heavens Immortal Realm, wielded the Frostlight Sword and steadfastly upheld the righteous path. During the war between immortals and demons, he single-handedly destroyed the deadly formation, only to be secretly set up by the upper ranks of the immortal sects. His spiritual power drained away, and the demons captured him.
Yuzhaozhao, a nine-tailed cat demon and holy maiden of the demon race, has mixed human, feline, and ancient demon blood. Skilled in psychological games and elaborate schemes, she rescues Xie Xuechen from his prison and confines him in the Glass Pavilion of the Demon Abyss.
The two engage in a battle of wits. Xie Xuechen clings to his righteous principles and secretly investigates the human conspiracy behind the war between immortals and demons. Yuzhaozhao pretends to undermine his faith, but in truth she uses him to unravel the ancient seals and mysteries passed down through the demon race. As they test and challenge each other and solve one mystery after another, they gradually expose the hidden desires and sins of three factions: the immortal sects, the demons, and the secluded mortal world.
