[Chinese-style rap + no System + cleaning up the entertainment industry + overwhelming the competition + satisfying contrast]
(Since a big shot has already said they’re going to write the best rap novel on Tomato, I’ll take a step back and aim for second best~)
Backstage at the country’s biggest rap competition, a rich second-generation heir and Su Ci’s childhood friend is so overcome with stomach cramps that he can’t go onstage, leaving him facing a 500,000-yuan breach-of-contract penalty. Su Ci, a top student in Yenching University’s Chinese department, is forced to step in and save the day.
In his crisp white shirt, he looks like a sheep that wandered into the wrong place among all the tattooed, dreadlocked rappers.
An old-school underground rapper mocks him to his face: “Bookworm, get back to school! You don’t even know which end of the microphone to rap into!”
Su Ci sees that the other man has written “break the cauldrons and sink the boats” as “break the axes and sink the boat,” and smiles.
The beat drops. He raps in his natural voice, without a hint of autotune! No luxury cars, cash, or women, and not a single curse word, yet every line cuts like a knife. With intricate multisyllabic rhymes woven together with classical poetry, he tears the man who mocked him to shreds!
“The spirit of five thousand years of Chinese civilization, you’ve dragged through the gutter! With all the officials gathered here, who dares raise their head?”
The internet explodes, and the audience leaps to its feet in a frenzy!
The old-school rapper, humiliated and furious, forcibly cuts the beat and demands an improvised battle!
Su Ci sneers. “Today, I’ll teach you how a cultured man can roast you and nail you to the pillar of shame!”
It's well written and has a strong sense of immersion, but rap is still too niche at this stage. What do you think?
