In an imagined Great Jin dynasty, the realm appears peaceful and prosperous on the surface, but beneath it, undercurrents churn and danger lurks everywhere. Powerful factions monopolize the salt and iron trades, while local gentry and tyrants run roughshod over the countryside and prey on the people. For students from poor families, the path to an education is painfully difficult.
The story takes place in He County, a small town where all kinds of people mix: there are scholarly families as well as the rough-and-tumble world of the streets. Zhichuan Academy is a dilapidated private school on the outskirts of town. Years of neglect, dwindling enrollment, and imminent closure have left it on the verge of abandonment. After its original teacher takes leave to mourn a death in the family, Su Xiuwen transmigrates into his body and takes over.
See how Teacher Su leads his students in standing up to local bullies, expanding their knowledge, solving major cases, fighting epidemics, and heading to the capital to pursue official honors, turning their fortunes around every step of the way!
