Commander! Your Wife Is Delivering the Wolf King’s Pups in the Back Hills Again

In her previous life, Jiang Yingchun was an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of shadow puppetry and a top fur-restoration specialist. One day, she wakes up in the 1970s as an unlucky woman whose cousin is forcing her into a substitute marriage.

Her cousin stole her childhood betrothal to a city worker and shoved her off to the far northwest to marry Huo Zhan, a veteran who was disfigured and blind in one eye.

It’s the worst blizzard in fifty years, and the villagers are all waiting to see Jiang Yingchun freeze or starve to death in the crumbling cave dwelling.

But Jiang Yingchun doesn’t panic at all. She discovers that not only has she brought along her past-life skills in tanning hides and sewing coats, she also has “ears that catch the wind,” letting her understand the gossip of birds and beasts!

The silly roe deer on the back mountain says, “Oh my goodness, there are a few ginseng roots in that tree hollow to the east. They’re poking me and keeping me awake!”

The fat sparrow beneath the eaves chirps, “Chirp, chirp! There are gold bars hidden in the village chief’s cellar, left behind by a landlord!”

The wolf king patrolling the mountains says, “Two-legged human, if I help you kill that wild boar, will you sew me a warm fur mat?”

And so, in the depths of winter, when other families can’t even find wild greens to dig up, the earthen bed in the Huo family’s home is blazing hot.

Today Jiang Yingchun stews a pheasant, tomorrow she roasts a wild boar leg, and she even uses the finest mink fur brought to her by the beasts to sew Huo Zhan a military coat.

Huo Zhan, once blind and lame, makes a full recovery thanks to her care and becomes the chief instructor of the special forces.

Back in the city, her cousin is starving and freezing. When she sees Jiang Yingchun return to the village in a jeep to hand out wedding candy, dressed in gold and silver, jealousy turns her eyes red!
