Like the Sun, Like the Moon

[Sweet campus romance + one-on-one, faithful to each other + mutual devotion + healing]

The night before school started, Jian Yue was beaten by her biological parents in an alley. They took all her living expenses, and she crouched on the ground, trembling as she cried.

A boy passed by, left her a pack of tissues and a bottle of water, then walked away.

The next day, on the first day of school, Jian Yue was sitting in class when the teacher called roll. That's when she found out the boy's name was Li Muyang, the most untouchable young master in the entire school.

He sat right behind her.

Jian Yue panicked. She was afraid he would tell everyone what had happened the night before, afraid they would all find out she'd grown up being beaten by her parents.

But Li Muyang said nothing.

He bought her medicine, brought her food, waited in line with her to get lunch, and kept everyone who tried to approach her at bay.

When a friend asked why he was so good to Jian Yue, he said, “I was just being kind. She looked pitiful.”

Jian Yue heard him and smiled as she drew a line between them. “We're just classmates.”

Furious, Li Muyang cornered her beneath a camphor tree and stared at her. “What did you say? Say that again.”

Jian Yue said, “We're not from the same world.”

Li Muyang said, “Fine. Then I'll come to yours.”

After that, Li Muyang started joining her for three-yuan mung bean soup, spending an afternoon with her at her part-time job in a café on the back street, buying her a whole bag of strawberry hair clips, and celebrating her eighteenth birthday with her.

Later, when her mother tried to make Jian Yue persuade her younger brother to study abroad in exchange for five thousand yuan, and everyone turned their backs on her,

Li Muyang stood in front of her, took her hand, and held her in his arms. “If no one else wants you, then I do. I'll stay by your side forever.”
