Into Journey to the West: Saving Wukong

[Two formidable leads + transmigration + redemption + plot-driven + clever heroine + past and present lives]

Chen Yang transmigrates to the Tang dynasty, becomes a princess, and is sent by Li Shimin to keep an eye on Tang Seng as he travels west.

The good news: she knows every plot point in Journey to the West.

The bad news: the plot has gone completely off the rails.

At Five Elements Mountain, she recognizes the furry hand: it's the monkey she once gave peaches to in her previous life.

At Dingxin Cliff, she watches helplessly as the tightening headband flies onto Sun Wukong's head, unable to stop it.

Qing He dies, Shi Tou loses a hand, and Tang Seng is stripped naked by the Black Bear Spirit and pinned down by the water...

Just when she thinks everything is falling apart, Sun Wukong comes to her door in the middle of the night, his golden pupils and red eyes fixed on her.

"Princess, who are you, really?"

Looking at the monkey face she has waited five hundred years to see, Chen Yang answers, one word at a time:

"Someone... who came to save you."
