My name is Zhuge Ke, descendant of the Marquis of Wu and heir to the Eight Trigrams formation sequence. My path in life was supposed to be clear: an elite from a prestigious family, a respectable man, living a predictable life until the end. Then the Chiyou Sequence exploded inside me. The foremost of the seventy-two sequences: the Lord of War, King of Metal. The day I awakened, every iron object within five miles went berserk. The clouds turned to metallic dust, and veins of iron burst from underground and surged toward me. It was undeniably cool. The problem was, Juedi Tiantong immediately sent three deities to kill me: a blind man who controlled time, a fortune-teller in a wheelchair, and a woman who could command the entire earth, Houtu Sequence, Ji Wujie. She placed a seal on my chest. “Every time you use the Lord of War’s power, the seal grows thinner. If it can no longer contain you, I’ll kill you.” I told her she could do it right then. She said nothing and left. Later, I found out that my pursuers were lining up to come after me. The four great clans, the Sitian Bureau, Juedi Tiantong, and a bunch of ancient bloodlines, all wanted me dead. Fine. I’m done running. I raised a banner and named it Jiuli. The monsters branded as “taboo” began gathering around me: Huodou, wielder of black fire; Qiongqi, master of the wind; and Xing Tian, who wielded the Gan and Qi battle-axes. “They say you’re a natural disaster,” my brothers asked me. “Then what are we?” I watched the pursuing army surge over the horizon and condensed the Lord of War’s power into an eighteen-foot spear, resting it on my shoulder. “We’re their comeuppance.”
