You Sent Me Undercover, So Why Is the Frail Young Marshal Spoiling Me?

The assassin Mo Ying is slowly being poisoned. Hoping to retire on a hundred taels of gold, she is forced to disguise herself as a man and assassinate the sickly young marshal Shen Changning. On her very first day undercover, one crisis follows another! She nearly has her disguise exposed when the young marshal barges in, and even her proudest stealth technique is mercilessly seen through when he recognizes her by the sound of her footsteps. Certain she is doomed, Mo Ying plans to make off with the money and fake her death. Then the young marshal's attitude changes completely. The Shadow Group pays ten silver dollars a month and doesn't even provide enough food, while the young marshal's residence offers a base salary of thirty and covers room and board! Shen Changning knows perfectly well that she is an assassin sent by the president to kill him, yet he doesn't expose her. Instead, he keeps her supplied with Chinese yam and tremella soup and discontinued life-saving medicine every day. When her old superior sends an urgent coded message demanding that she make her move, Mo Ying burns it to ashes without a second thought. What a joke! The young marshal pays more than your commander-in-chief, so who would go back to being an assassin who can't even get enough to eat?
