The 1970s: My Blind Date Is the Austerely Handsome Tycoon from Last Night

[Seventies setting + food + marriage first, love later + top scientist + pocket dimension with a spirit spring + face-slapping and crushing scumbags + cozy everyday life]

Yang Sitian, the eye-catching, pretty chef at the state-run restaurant, supports herself with her exceptional cooking skills, but catches the deputy factory director’s attention.

He uses the promise of a permanent position and the chance to be named an outstanding worker to pressure her, and repeatedly makes unwanted advances.

To get away from this mess, all she wants is to find a decent man and marry him as soon as possible.

At a banquet, Yang Sitian accidentally drinks alcohol laced with something and stumbles into the back alley as she flees.

By a twist of fate, she falls into an empty alley with a reserved, cold-looking man.

Early the next morning, she leaves behind the meat buns she made and runs off, pretending that night never happened.

Auntie Wang from the neighborhood office kindly arranges a match, telling her the man is a scientist newly transferred to a base in the far northwest: rigid, dull, and interested only in formulas.

At the state-run restaurant, Yang Sitian carries out tea for their blind date, only to meet a pair of extraordinarily cold, distant eyes.

The man looks at her and sneers. “Comrade Yang, these meat buns taste pretty good!”

The blind date turns straight into a trip to register their marriage.

Yang Sitian thinks marrying a science fanatic means she’ll be left to live like a widow.

Who would have guessed that this abstinent big shot would pin her against the kitchen counter every night, stripping away every one of her disguises.
