Mr. Lu Saw Through My Scheme, Then Left Me with One Shot to Settle the Score

The Fish I Hooked Somehow Bit Me

I planned a hunt in the name of “love,” targeting the Lu Group’s CEO, whom I’d “accidentally” slept with after drinking too much.

I played the victim, acted sweet and obedient, and pretended to be devoted. Every step was part of my plan.

He doted on me, protected me, and gave me everything. I thought I’d won.

Until he tore up my “plan,” and I realized he’d known the truth from the very beginning.

He’d played along just to see how convincing I could be.

His revenge came hard and fast. He trusted his ex, teamed up with others, and repaid me many times over for the “schemes” I’d used against him, leaving me utterly broken.

When I was kidnapped, he risked his life to save me.

The moment the gun went off, I threw myself in front of him, and blood stained his white shirt.

“Lu Lingxiao,” I heard myself say, “from now on, I owe you nothing.”

Later, when he knelt before me and begged me to come back, I finally understood:

Some fish, once they slip the hook, will never bite the bait again.
