Deified by the Inscription on a Monument

Shen Wuyuan, the adopted good-for-nothing of the Shen family, a clan of martial artists, has endured scorn all his life. In truth, he is nothing more than a whetstone and living medicinal ingredient for the clan leader’s son, Shen Tianjiao. The family’s forbidden grounds conceal a Myriad Worlds Martial Stele, which can summon remnants of different martial worlds for trials. But the clan strictly forbids anyone outside its core inheritors from touching it. Seeking revenge, Shen Wuyuan risks everything and reaches for the stele in a desperate moment. With extraordinary martial insight and unyielding resolve, he repeatedly “steals” powerful martial arts from other worlds during the trials, techniques the family has discarded but that possess astonishing strength.

He secretly cultivates using the family’s resources, walking a path that is neither wholly righteous nor wholly wicked. He is ruthless and merciless toward his enemies, yet still shows kindness to lowly martial artists who have helped him. At family tournaments, secret-realm expeditions, and other opportunities, he is continually “assigned” challenges against formidable foes. But he turns their schemes against them, using martial arts from other worlds to defeat one stepping-stone after another for Shen Tianjiao and throw the family into turmoil. As his strength grows, he gradually discovers that the stele’s secrets far exceed his imagination. It does not connect to “remnants of worlds” at all, but to real parallel martial worlds, whose martial origins the Shen family has been siphoning for generations.

As Shen Wuyuan steals martial arts and fights against his clan, he draws the attention of trial-takers from other worlds and is pulled into a struggle for the fate and fortune of martial arts across the myriad worlds. He must keep breaking through on this path that is neither wholly righteous nor wholly wicked, both to avenge himself on the all-powerful Shen family and to escape his double fate as a “martial arts thief” and an “abandoned son of the clan.” Beneath the crushing forces of martial worlds and the vast shadow of his family, he will fight his way toward a path to the heavens that belongs to him alone.
