A Fried Chicken Shop from the Start: I Became the Godfather of America

In the rough-and-tumble city of Philadelphia, Lin Ni inherits a strange fried chicken shop. Bulletproof glass seals off the kitchen from the dining area, and the ordering window is so small it resembles a church confessional. He intends to run an honest business, but soon discovers this shop is about far more than fried chicken.

It's a “monster-spawning dungeon” for life, drawing in every soul with nowhere else to turn.

A street punk who “steals for free” becomes his most loyal “deadshot” over a bottle of Red Bull; a runaway child finds the shop to be their only refuge over a serving of fries; and a penniless old man hails him as the neighborhood's “saint” after he waives 75 cents. Lin Qian realizes that every act of kindness he offers somehow forges an unshakable “contract.” Fried chicken, fries, Red Bull... these cheap goods turn out to be his only bargaining chips for weaving a web of power across the city.

But when his loyal “deadshot” uses violence to protect his “kindness,” and the neighborhood's peace comes at the cost of every resident's “obedience,” Lin Qian begins to feel afraid. Am I running this shop, or is the shop “raising” me? When the gaze of Philadelphia's true underground emperor falls on this little fried chicken shop, he finally understands that there is no turning back. On the road to becoming a “godfather,” what awaits him: redemption, or eternal ruin?
