A fantasy novel set in an alternate world of swords and magic, with an expansive world and detailed lore. The story aims to be “grounded and intelligent,” “realistic,” “not a power fantasy,” with “no System,” “immortality,” and an “alternate setting.”
Please note: This is not a power fantasy. The early chapters focus on growth and introducing the setting, and the plot develops slowly, much like a light novel.
Li Yang, a 23-year-old office worker, transmigrates to another world and wakes up in a mine. A selfless angel grants him the ability to be reborn: he can refuse death, but must retain every excruciating memory of being eaten by monsters or pierced by blades.
All he wants is to stay alive, but he accidentally ends up “bringing along” a beast-eared girl named “Hui.” She carries a “Seed of Origin Breath” imbued with chaotic magic, and is also a “dangerous commodity” that others would pay any price to obtain. Blackmailed and exploited, he is “invited” by a team to their underground hideout. This outsider, who doesn't even speak the common tongue of this world, is dragged into the vortex surrounding the City of Molten Iron.
“I just want to stay alive, take things slowly, and learn some magic,” Li Yang wails at the heavens.
With the help of the focused witch Lafina, Li Yang wields a mining pick and a broken sword, speaking in the meekest tone while making the fiercest threats: “When danger comes, I'll be the first to run. But if anyone lays a hand on Hui, I'll show them how a madman flips the whole board.”
The protagonist is immortal. My definition of immortality is that the body never ages and cannot die of old age. It doesn't mean that a fatal injury can't kill you, or that wounds heal automatically. You're just like an ordinary person, except you never die of old age.
