Mu Jin is the granddaughter of Mu Tuoqing, a military officer of the Plain White Banner. She is a true princess of a general's household. When the emperor ordered a change of dynasty, her family sent her away to live among the common people. She was adopted by a country farmer named Zhu Xu, whose wife was known as Madam Li. They had a son and a daughter of their own.
After the family's troubles began, the chief steward Deshun left Mu Jin in the hills, hoping to spare his own daughter from suffering. The entire family was to be exiled to Lingnan, and his daughter was already of marriageable age. He feared they might never return and that her chance to marry would be lost. But the change of dynasty turned out to be a scheme authorized by the emperor and carried out by the Court of Judicial Review to strip the general's household of its power. When General Mu learned the truth, his whole family sought refuge with the family of the general's wife in the Great Khanate.
After Mu Jin was abandoned in the hills, she transmigrated, bringing the System with her to the mountains. Starting out knowing nothing, she was raised by her adoptive parents and set on the path to prosperity. She then met her true love, Wen Jiaxing, a researcher at the Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Together, they overcame all kinds of difficulties and worked their way toward a better-off life, leading the people of the mountains on the road to prosperity as well. After the System upgraded, Mu Jin learned the truth. She and Wen Jiaxing set out to find her parents and the rest of her family, bringing goods from the mountains to the Great Khanate. From then on, they embarked on a path of trade.
