Delivery Rider, 1936: Delivering Iron Lunch Boxes in Henan

Wu Bin, a twenty-three-year-old food delivery rider, has spent two or three years delivering meals for Pinhaofan, earning a 98.7 percent positive rating. The day a car sends him flying, he is still clutching an order that's about to be late.

When he opens his eyes again, he sees a thousand miles of barren land in Henan in 1936, and an old man so hungry he is skin and bones.

The System activates: it automatically generates iron lunch boxes based on the number of people bound to it. Any meal not eaten that day expires overnight. He delivers his first lunch box and saves his first life. From that moment on, he never stops moving.

In a time of chaos, he uses one iron lunch box after another to bring together a force that inspires terror:

Ma Sandao, the Ghost-Head Saber, is a seventh-generation executioner who turned to contract killings after his family was wiped out. He spends three days staking out Wu Bin in preparation for an assassination, but in the end, he lowers his blade. “When he was handing out food to the refugees, he was eating the burnt scraps scraped from the bottom of the pot himself.”

Xiong Ba of the Twin Pistols, a former soldier in the Songshan Army, killed an official and raised a band of followers, founding the Twin Pistols Society. He wouldn't submit to anyone, until Wu Bin stood beneath the stronghold wall and called out, “How many men do you have? I'll feed every last one.”

Li Yun, a veteran escort who spent thirty years on the road without ever failing a job, is a logistics genius who can do it all. He trusts skills, not people, but breaks his rules for a young man who pays him thirty percent more for his hard work.

From a single flag at Tiemen Stronghold to an ironclad army resisting the Japanese at the Henan-Shanxi border, with the Japanese offering a bounty of two thousand silver dollars for its capture, Wu Bin carves a path through the chaos using the mindset of a modern supply chain.

On the day victory over Japan is declared, the System asks whether he wants to go home. He closes the interface and turns to the brothers waiting for him to hand out their meals.

Those forgotten by history finally become legends, thanks to a young man who delivered boxed lunches.
