Dian Army: From the Start, I Married a Tusi Chieftain’s Daughter

In the modern era, Shui Jingxuan was a Yunnan-born special forces soldier codenamed “Water Ghost.” He sacrificed himself to save a comrade during a mission. When he opened his eyes again, he had become a fallen scion named Shui Jingxuan in the Shui family of Yisa, Honghe, Yunnan, in 1919.

In a borderland torn by turmoil, he had hoped to keep his head down and survive. But after saving a young man from a local chieftain’s village who was being chased by bandits, he was dragged into the region’s power struggles.

Starting out in a chieftain’s village on Yunnan’s frontier, Shui Jingxuan gradually brought caravan guilds, merchant associations, and gangs under his control, then made his way into the Yunnan Army. He used his strengths to build up his power amid great historical upheavals, from the National Protection Movement to the War of Resistance Against Japan. In the end, seeking a place of peace, he led his followers overseas and established a base there.
