Three-and-a-half-year-old Jiang Sुईsui opens her eyes to find herself stuffed into a stinking sack, bouncing along in a human trafficker's donkey cart.

While the other children cry in terror, she quietly casts a divination:

"Northwest, seventeen steps. There's a ditch. I can escape."

Under cover of night, she kicks down her guard and walks through the wilderness for three days and nights.

Hungry, she casts a divination to find wild fruit. Thirsty, she predicts where to find a spring. When she runs into a wolf, she casts another divination:

"Your fate has you crossing paths with me. You can leave now, or I can teach you to be a wolf with a rock."

The wolf: ... (Turns and runs.)

Guided by one divination after another, the tiny three-year-old trudges along on her little legs until she appears at the gate of the most battle-hardened division in the entire army, in the dead of night.

The little girl clings to the sentry's leg and says in her childish voice:

"Uncle, I cast a divination. My dad... is inside. His name is Jiang Beichen... He has a scar on his left shoulder... and he keeps an old pocket watch hidden in his cabinet."

The entire military district is shaken.

Jiang Beichen, the iron-blooded division commander, has spent his life on the battlefield and is decisive and ruthless. He has never believed in ghosts or gods.

Two years ago, he was told his daughter had died in infancy, and he personally erected a cenotaph for her in his hometown.

Now a dirty, scrawny little girl is listing secrets known only to him, counting them off on her fingers:

"The divination says you're my dad. I'm part of your fate, so you can't get away."

Jiang Beichen's heart of stone crumbles on the spot.

From then on, the Red Flag Division has a tiny fortune-telling prodigy.
