Synopsis: Shen Jingqiu, a university student in Beiping, lost her older brother Shen Jingyuan, an underground Communist Party member, after he was betrayed. Disguised as a man, she gets into a training class, determined to complete the mission he left unfinished. There, she is assigned to share a dormitory with Lu Shixi, the son of a military intelligence officer who was forced into the class to polish his credentials. Shen Jingqiu is kind, resilient, perceptive, and committed to justice. Lu Shixi is irreverent, haughty, sharp-tongued, and lonely inside, yet fiercely loyal to those he cares about. The two go from a bickering pair who can't stand each other to trusting one another through a series of life-and-death missions. Lu Shixi first suspects Shen Jingqiu's identity, then discovers she is a woman and secretly protects her. As the brutal war unfolds, he gradually awakens to the truth and ultimately breaks with his Nationalist father. In the end, the two find their way to each other.
