No one knows that every night, the iron-fisted CEO Ruan Ning of a publicly traded company unwinds by reading silly, brainless romance stories.

One night, she casually opens a book called Sweet as Honey: The Pampered Wife of the Eighties. The story is about a warlord family’s heir, the male lead, falling at first sight for the gentle, sweet heroine, while he and the gentle second male lead compete fiercely for the beauty’s affection.

The evil ex-girlfriend’s storyline is the best part: she makes trouble at every turn, gets face-slapped again and again, and ultimately dies a miserable death.

Ruan Ning reads it with a grin stretching from ear to ear.

But who could have guessed that when she wakes up, she’s transmigrated into the book as the cannon-fodder ex-girlfriend, Ruan Ning?

Don’t panic! Having read the plot inside out, she decides on the spot to lie flat...

All she has to do is wait for the male lead to fall for the heroine and break up with her of his own accord. Then she can take her massive breakup settlement, get away from the farm’s melodramatic mess, and build a magnificent career of her own.

But as the heroine charms everyone and flirts back and forth with the second male lead, the male lead still shows no sign of letting her go.

Ruan Ning can’t take it anymore. She breaks up with him and runs.

The male lead suddenly pins her in his arms, holding her with startling force. His voice is possessive yet hurt:

“No breaking up.”

“Ningning, don’t leave me.”
