Three years ago, Jiang Li saved the fallen crown prince Xiao Yanci. After giving birth to his son, she left him with the words “Beauty is short-lived,” then casually faked her death and returned to the martial world to live like a big shot.

Over the next three years, the crown prince of the Great Yuan dynasty became a mad widower, building a mourning hall in the Eastern Palace and summoning her spirit every day.

Three years later, in a torrential downpour, a woman in a straw rain cape with a long saber on her back rides an outrageously cocky, fat black donkey and saunters up to the Eastern Palace gates.

The gatekeeper shouts, “How dare you disturb the Crown Princess’s spirit!”

Jiang Li kicks the gates flying and draws her saber. “Make way! I don’t want that jerk anymore, but the kid inside is the one I carried for ten months. Today, I’m taking the whole lot, cradle and all!”

The Eastern Palace erupts into chaos, and the entire capital is stunned. The Crown Princess they’ve been mourning for three years has come back from the dead!

The three-year-old young prince expertly packs the jade seal and treasury keys, then clings to Jiang Li’s leg. “Mother, hurry up! Father’s coming after us!”

That night, the ruthless, decisive crown prince clings desperately to the black donkey’s hind leg, his eyes bloodshot as he weeps without an ounce of dignity. “A Li, take the kid with you. Could you steal me away too?”
