Night Shift Security Guard: No Slackers at Liwan Plaza

Everyone says Yangcheng has a landmark called Liwan Plaza, but there’s something seriously wrong with that place. At midnight, the four characters on the rooftop look more and more like “Liwan Morgue,” no matter how you see them.

My name is Xu Yang. I was so desperate for money that I applied for the night-shift security job there.

A monthly salary of twenty thousand, with meals and accommodation included. There was only one requirement:

[After midnight, patrol the building. No matter whose voice you hear calling your name from behind, absolutely, absolutely do not turn around!]

On my first day, a director who had come to the plaza’s underground parking garage to film a paranormal web series jumped straight down from the fifth floor right in front of me. His brains splattered all over one of my shoes.

Even worse, just before he died, he stared right at me and gave an eerie smile, then uttered words that made my scalp crawl:

“Eight coffins…one is missing. You take its place…”

Ding!

[Liwan Haunted Ground Survival System bound!]

[Midnight Patrol Rule One: If you encounter a woman in Qing Dynasty opera costume asking you for directions, shout, “The Qing Dynasty is dead!” then immediately give her a hard slap. Do not hesitate!]

[Midnight Patrol Rule Two: The women’s restroom on the third floor has only four stalls. If you see a fifth, open the door at once and throw in one of the “Extremely Irritable Flashbangs” provided by the System.]

[Midnight Patrol Rule Three: If you see someone leaning over the glass railing and trying to jump, immediately…]

As black blood began seeping out of the cracks in the wall, I took a deep drag of my cheap cigarette and casually grabbed the high-powered flashlight at my waist and a rusty fire axe.

Damn it, I’m not even afraid of being poor. Why should I be afraid of ghosts?

Eight coffins suppressing evil, is that it? Even if the King of Hell himself is buried down there, I’ll make him pay his property fees before he leaves.
