Employee Handbook: Do Not Die

On the first day after being laid off, Chen Mo signed a strange employment contract.

Position: Yin-Yang Affairs Coordinator.

Salary: Confidential.

Benefits: None.

One requirement: Strictly follow the rulebook for every assignment. Violators are responsible for the consequences.

First job: Deliver a bowl of pork trotter rice to No. 12 in the old district. Do not look back at any point.

Second job: Retrieve money from the bank for someone who died three years ago.

Third job: ...

Chen Mo discovers that every rule governing this job comes from China's oldest folk taboos.

And these taboos aren't superstition.

They have saved countless lives.

But someone is quietly deleting them, one by one.

World setting: The living world has food delivery, parcel services, and home repairs. The “unfinished business” of both the living and the dead needs someone to take care of it, too.
