Synopsis

[I Toppled the Heavenly Dao's Chessboard!] Year 37 of the Tianyuan Era, autumn. Qingzhou City. A tea house attendant with no spiritual root meets a mad Taoist.

Bai Ziyuan has lived for seventeen years and accepted his lot. Without a spiritual root, one can't even reach the threshold of cultivation. Then a strange beast barges into the tea house, and a red light sweeps across his face. Suddenly, it shines, as if recognizing something.

The mad Taoist Chen Wufang drives off the beast, but blood seeps from the fingers he used to form his hand seal. He says, “This isn't a spell. It's a move in a game. Heaven and earth are the board, and all things are pieces. And the pawn that shouldn't be in the general's position is you.”

A trigram pattern for Li appears in Bai Ziyuan's palm. It is both a seal and a key.

From then on, he sets out on a path that should never have been his: using the trigrams as his spiritual root and the Way of Changes as his cultivation method, he forces a path through desperate circumstances where no one has ever gone before. His companions include a direct descendant of the alchemical arts burdened with a poisonous formation, a woman from a collateral branch of a noble clan whose spiritual root was taken by fate, and a barbarian shaman with the key to the Nine Hells sealed in his bloodline.

And the one who created these desperate circumstances and sealed his spiritual root holds the tenth rank among the immortals, known as the Fatekeeper.

“He isn't trapping you. He's forcing you forward.”

“Heaven's Dao needs a variable, someone to do something even Heaven's Dao itself cannot.”

The Book of Changes for bones, mountains and seas for flesh. This is a story of “making your own fate and shaping your fortune with your heart.” Destiny isn't fixed; it's inertia. And inertia can be broken.

Not everyone has to defy heaven and change their fate. But the one who chooses not to accept theirs will take the first step.

Recently, a huge wave of AI writers has flooded Fanfan. It's hard to tell whether these AI-written stories are real, and their quality is all over the place. Ordinary writers keep losing their share of the remaining traffic in this flood. What are we supposed to do?

Refining Qi into Spirit, Returning from Void to Unity Novels. No Blind Recommendations!

Doesn’t Tomato Novel have any stories about breaking through to the Void Refinement and Dao Integration realms? Can today’s authors only write about low-level Golden Core cultivation? One Golden Core pill in my belly, and my fate is mine to control, not Heaven’s. Are authors these days insulting that saying?
