Lin Shen, an amateur writer who quit his job at an architectural design institute, is dragged by his younger brother into buying and selling haunted houses, all to make a fortune and turn their lives around. Flickering lights, knocking sounds in the walls at midnight, words carved inside a wardrobe, a peephole installed backwards: every haunted house is steeped in the uncanny. The brothers use their knowledge of architecture and the scientific methods of their forensic pathologist partner to investigate each case, only to discover that beneath the terrifying appearances may be no ghosts at all, but living people who can't let go, and words left unsaid. There are no haunted houses in this world, only unfinished business in people's hearts. But are there really no ghosts in this world? How can you be sure that every "person" you meet is alive?
