Famine Years: The Blind Old Soldier Raises an Army by Eating Dirt

In the final years of the Great Abyss dynasty, a Little Ice Age arrives. The land is struck by a terrible drought, and corpses of the starving litter the roads.

The corrupt court, dominated by eunuch factions, forcibly drives a million starving refugees to the deadly wastelands beyond the frontier to reclaim the land, abandoning them to their fate!

Chu Kuang is a disabled veteran who lost his sight defending against the Northern Barbarians thirty years ago. For three decades, the Great Abyss court has completely forgotten him, leaving him beyond the frontier in the wind and snow, like a stray dog.

He thought he would die in silence, alone, hungry and cold. Then, thirty years too late, the [Ultimate Divine Martial Body System] finally awakens!

The System transforms the “resistance to hunger” instinct he developed to survive into the ancient great demon's “Qi-Consuming Earth-Swallowing Method”!

No food?

Chu Kuang swallows a pound of frozen frontier soil. Qi and blood +999, and he forges skin of bronze and bones of iron!

No water?

Chu Kuang gulps down three mouthfuls of the polar winds. Qi and blood +999, and he cultivates frostlike aura!

When a million emaciated refugees are driven beyond the frontier and face the vast, savage army of the bloodthirsty Northern Barbarians in despair, they witness a scene they will never forget.

An old beggar with white hair and blind eyes stands bare-chested, his qi and blood blazing like a furnace. With one punch, he smashes the head of the Northern Barbarians' greatest warrior!

“The Great Abyss abandoned you. I'll take care of you!”

“No food? I'll teach you to gnaw on barbarians and eat iron ore raw, until we feast this wasteland into a golden age!”

Years later, the Northern Barbarians are wiped out, and a million “armored refugees,” their qi and blood soaring and their muscles bulging, stand ready outside Yumen Pass!

Blind Chu Kuang sits upon his throne and points at the trembling officials gathered at court. “Emperor of the Great Abyss, it's time to step down!”
