Doomsday Lie Flat: I’ll Watch Ads to Bring You Back to Life

Tang Pingping has just graduated from university. She has sent her resume everywhere, but hasn’t heard back from a single employer. As she lies in her rented room, staring at the 168.99 yuan left in her bank account and questioning her life, she can’t help muttering, “World, just end already!” And so, the world ends. Tang Pingping looks at the ruins and the wreckage everywhere. “It wasn’t me. I didn’t do it. This has nothing to do with me.” In the year 2088, an unknown factor sent the world spiraling toward destruction and chaos. Disasters erupted simultaneously around the globe: earthquakes, insect plagues, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, epidemics, mudslides, floods... Humanity entered a desperate mode of mass escape and survival. More than half of all living creatures perished. In the year 2089, an unknown System intervened. Later, the survivors named it the Survival System. It split the world on the brink of destruction into countless miniature apocalypses, ranked them by difficulty, and sent survivors into them in batches to fight for survival. The duration was random, and those who made it through received rewards, including safe houses, items, talents, and bloodlines. Tang Pingping bonded with the Patchwork Monster System on the day the apocalypse began. That means that while trying to survive the apocalypses assigned by the Survival System, she also has to play an extra minigame. The difficulty is random: sometimes it’s easy, and sometimes it’s utterly ridiculous. But completing the game earns her generous rewards that are strange but useful. Tang Pingping has one question: “Can’t you just give them to me? I want to lie flat in comfort!” Patchwork Monster System: “How about watching an ad?” Tang Pingping: “There’s only one ad per game. How am I supposed to lie flat in comfort? I demand unlimited ad views!” Patchwork Monster System: “Request denied.” Tang Pingping: “Just you wait. Don’t let me catch you!”
