“The Three Laws of Protection”:
One: The Law of Balance. If the number of people with supernatural abilities exceeds a critical threshold, about 0.5% of the world’s population, the world will trigger a great cleansing mechanism, much like a “spiritual qi tidal flood.”
Two: The Law of Cost. Whenever someone gains an ability, they must lose something of equal value. The stronger the ability, the more devastating the price.
Three: The Law of Inheritance. The powers of all those with supernatural abilities must ultimately return to the world itself. No one can truly possess power forever.
These rules will be revealed and repeatedly turned on their head as the story progresses, tying together several key events at the end of the first volume and the climax of the second.
The Core Golden Finger
The “Anti-Grind System,” an innovative golden finger built around “rule-based games”:
Mechanism: After the System binds to the protagonist, he receives rewards whenever he slacks off, shirks work, or avoids his duties. The more he goes against human nature, the greater the rewards.
On the surface: The System is called the “Efficient Work Master System” and urges the protagonist to toil away with rousing slogans every time.
Behind the scenes: The System secretly rewards him for slacking off. As the protagonist gradually figures out the pattern, he and the System engage in a grand game of deceiving those above and below.
The truth: The System is actually an ultimate-authority weapon left behind by three missing SSS-rank powerhouses. They deliberately designed its reverse-reward mechanism to find “the most disobedient person,” because only someone who refuses to follow the rules can break the world’s endless cycle.
