Sickly Regent, Stop Flirting! Your Shadow Guard Can’t Take It!

Jiujiu was picked up by Xie Jinglan from a mass grave.

Why is he called Jiujiu? It’s simple: the day Xie Jinglan found him was the nineteenth day of the eleventh lunar month.

After ten years of enduring hardship, he has shed every rough edge and become the most silent shadow at the regent’s side.

Everyone knows Xie Jinglan holds enormous power at court, yet is frail and sickly, coughing every few steps and looking ready to collapse at the slightest breeze.

What they don’t know is that Xie Jinglan is ruthless, and never leaves a single enemy alive.

Jiujiu thinks all he has to do is know his place and remain loyal to His Highness, taking blades for him, killing for him, and dying for him, until Xie Jinglan begins to change.

When Jiujiu returns drenched in blood, the man wipes the grime from his face with cool fingertips and softly asks, “Does it hurt?”

When he coughs himself hoarse in the middle of the night, he clutches Jiujiu’s clothes and won’t let go, his voice raspy as he begs him to stay.

When they’re alone, he gazes at him with peach-blossom eyes glistening with tears and says, word by word, “Jiujiu, I have nothing but you.”

…

Jiujiu’s heart skips a beat.

He can face thousands of troops and withstand brutal torture, but he can’t resist Xie Jinglan’s casual glance or gentle words.

Later, when Jiujiu tries to escape, Xie Jinglan pins him to the bed and locks him up, eyes red. “Jiujiu, why are you running away? Have I not treated you well enough?”

A note from Xie Jinglan: At first, life just felt boring, so I wanted to find something fun to do.

But later, I realized I’d fallen for him, and there was no turning back.

And now Jiujiu actually wants to run?

Not allowed. Jiujiu can only be mine!

Jiujiu is being naughty.

What should I do?

I’ll just have to lock him up…
