The Repairman Next Door: He Calls Me Crazy but Spoils Me!

A story centered on sweet romance for ordinary people, dark humor, and unhinged antics, capturing the everyday warmth of the old neighborhood. The plot is down-to-earth, funny, and heartwarming.

At 28, Wen Xiaoxu has become the old neighborhood's resident spectacle. She runs for the subway and breaks a heel, orders milk tea and asks for “less milk” when she means “less sugar,” and gets so tangled up chatting with the neighborhood aunties that she talks herself into a corner. Even raising a succulent ends in disaster: she overwaters it until its roots rot, then stubbornly claims, “It chose to wither.” Her life motto is: As long as I'm not embarrassed, everyone else is; as long as I'm weird enough, worries can't catch me.

She thought she could keep slacking through life like this forever, until the “killjoy” Chi Yizhuo moved in next door. He's the owner of a repair shop, a man of few words with a sharp tongue and a serious case of OCD. The way he looks at Wen Xiaoxu is like she's a walking troublemaker. But this same man, who thinks she's a nuisance, quietly leaves an umbrella at her door when she forgets hers (with a note attached: Lose another umbrella and you'll just have to get rained on); helps her gather evidence when she's bullied at work, then casually shuts her boss up; and when she complains that nobody wants her, murmurs, “I do. That's better than you marrying some weirdo.”

This is the everyday life of an “unhinged oddball” and a “sharp-tongued sweetheart.” There are no grand declarations of love or priceless gifts, just soy milk and fried dough sticks bought together in the morning, evening strolls through the market, trading complaints while fixing a water pipe, and helping each other dodge questions about getting married. Every ordinary little moment is funny, and every cutting remark conceals tenderness. Sweet romance for ordinary people was never about earth-shattering gestures. It's about finding someone willing to be just as ridiculous as you are in the messiness of everyday life.
