High Martial: Sword Lord of the Cosmos

The story begins in a woodshed for outer disciples at a declining sect on the edge of the mortal world, and ends in a place beyond all paths. Li Qing starts out as a bullied good-for-nothing and goes on to endure martial-world bloodshed, imperial struggles, wars between realms, and campaigns across the myriad heavens, gradually uncovering the ultimate truth: the Heavenly Dao harvests all life, and the Great Dao is a cage. He was never born to save the world. He only wanted to protect the people around him. Unwilling to become nourishment for the Great Dao, he takes up his sword and shatters the entire old order. In the end, he does not leave alone. He opens the Gate of Transcendence and leads billions of imprisoned souls toward true freedom.
