The Hong Kong Tycoon: Ordered to Clean Up the Underworld

A rain-soaked night, bitterly cold. Hong Kong, 1983: a murky world of black and white, rife with chaos.

Lin Mo, a modern investment banking star, unexpectedly transmigrates into the body of Fei Quan, a discarded son of the Hung Lok triad. Betrayed by his brothers, the original owner was left dying in the rain. Now Lin Mo has returned with forty years of future memories.

This is a pivotal year in the Sino-British negotiations. British capital controls the economy, gangs run rampant in the streets, and foreign forces stir in the shadows.

Reborn from the brink of death, Lin Mo uses his foresight to turn a few hundred yuan into his first fortune. Just as he begins laying out his plans in the world of finance, a secret letter arrives:

“Hong Kong’s return is imminent. The underground order must not fall into chaos. The motherland needs someone to set the underworld straight by its own methods, and to safeguard the handover with the power of capital.”

From then on, Lin Mo enters the game under orders.

He purges the gangs of their worst habits and lays down three ironclad prohibitions, transforming their seedy organizations into legitimate security companies;

He takes on British conglomerates and battles international speculators, building a financial Great Wall in the currency and stock markets;

He invests deeply in technology and industry, swimming against the current to master chipmaking and break the West’s technological blockade;

In the shadows, Ink Shadow International quietly rises, operating around the globe to protect the nation’s overseas assets.

Years later, at a CIA hearing, a senior official grits his teeth and demands, “Lin Mo, are you a godfather of organized crime or a red capitalist?”

Atop Victoria Peak, Lin Mo gazes down at Victoria Harbour and answers calmly:

“I’m just a Chinese businessman who was ordered to do business.”
