Blood and Fire: Yinshan, 1984

Amid scorched earth and pools of blood, how does a farmer's son grow into a true soldier? How does a company forge the nation's border marker with flesh and blood?

Every inch of scorched earth on Zheyin Mountain is soaked with the blood of young soldiers. As they fell, they still clutched their rifles and cried out for their mothers. More than forty years later, we write about them not to stir up hatred, but to remember: peace can never be taken for granted.
