Steel and Whiskey: The Goofball Godfather of America

[Retro gangster story + hilarious subversion of expectations + gritty period drama + twists at every turn + underdog comeback + multiple heroines]

[I only wrote this book because I love Tommy Shelby]

Detroit, 1919.

Prohibition hangs over the entire city. Bootleg liquor runs rampant, gangs carve up the streets, and corrupt cops are everywhere.

Modern office drone Ma Paopao transmigrates by accident and becomes Jack, the poorest Black man in Detroit.

No “invincible System,” no ridiculous fortune.

From the start, he has just two dollars in his pocket and nothing but hard cases around him.

He only wants to coast through life,

but who could have guessed that the gang bosses, corrupt cops, and crooked dealers would all be such ruthless schemers?

With no way out, Jack has to play dumb and act meek, using his modern mind to turn every trick back on its owner.

While everyone else fights for their lives, he specializes in sly schemes.

While everyone else acts fierce and domineering, he spends the whole time joking around and taking it easy.
