Period: Surviving the Extreme Cold of 1978

In the winter of 1978, a steam train bound for the forests of Northeast China is caught in a massive avalanche and plunges into an uninhabited part of the Greater Khingan Range.

There are no phones, no GPS, and no insulated outdoor gear. The setting is the undeveloped, freezing wilderness of the Greater Khingan Range. Here, temperatures drop to minus thirty degrees. Blizzards, Siberian cold fronts, hungry wolf packs, and black bears weighing half a ton are all part of the landscape. No one cares about seniority or rank here. Only the oldest rule of the wild applies: survival of the fittest.
