Two Meters Off Course

While moving, Chi Yin found an old phone from high school.

The screen lit up. In her QQ messages, one lonely message waited: sent by Pei Rang, the boy she had secretly loved for three years, on the night the college entrance exams ended. “Let me know when you get there.”

She couldn’t remember where she was going, or why she never replied.

That night, she started dreaming.

In her dreams, she returned to the high school corridors, the bleachers, and a night of torrential rain. Every frame felt real, as if she were living it all over again, until she noticed something was wrong: when Pei Rang looked back at her, his gaze was two meters off.

He wasn’t looking at her.

He was looking at someone else, at the far right end of the bleachers.

That person was her best friend, Sheng Qi.

A name she should have remembered, but had completely forgotten for ten years.

Even stranger, after every dream, another mark appeared on Chi Yin’s body. A scrape on her ankle, an old scar on her palm, as if her body were remembering a truth she had erased herself.

She searched every corner of her old phone and found that her chat history had been wiped. In their group photos, Sheng Qi smiled through her tears. Her QQ status read, “Don’t look for me.”

And at last, Chi Yin remembered what Pei Rang’s “Let me know when you get there” meant.

That night, Sheng Qi was going somewhere, and Chi Yin was supposed to go with her.

This is not a linear story. Memories lie, timelines overlap, and the truth is peeled back layer by layer. If you come across inconsistencies, they aren’t typos. They’re Chi Yin’s memories being corrected.
