Sign-In in the Great Song: I Become Emperor by Starting with Zhao Guangyi's Assassination

Born into the body of Zhao Defang, Zhao Kuangyin’s fourth son, he got the sign-in System from the start. Sixteen years later, his uncle Zhao Guangyi would kill Zhao Kuangyin on the night of the Candle Shadows and Axe Sounds, then usurp the throne. At twenty-three, Zhao Defang would also “die suddenly of illness,” under mysterious circumstances. Zhao Defang had no intention of meeting the same fate. The Daily Sign-In System gave him the means to turn things around: sign in every day, and he was guaranteed ten absolutely loyal assassins. The longer he signed in, the higher their quality. From ordinary soldiers to centurions and deputy generals, then to first-rate civil and military officials whose names would go down in history. On the first day, he gained ten men. By the thousandth day, he had ten thousand. By the 6,200th day, sixty-two thousand. They were hidden in every battalion of the Imperial Guard, every side hall of the inner palace, every government office at court, and every street and alley in Kaifeng. They knew nothing of one another. They knew only that they shared one master. For seventeen years, Zhao Defang played the fool, feigned illness and weakness, and pretended to be a mediocre prince who posed no threat. Zhao Guangyi thought his plans were flawless. He had no idea that the web had begun to take shape on the very day Zhao Defang was born. In the first year of Jianlong (960), Zhao Kuangyin was dressed in the imperial yellow robe. In the ninth year of Kaibao (976), on the night of October 19, snow fell heavily. In the Hall of Longevity, candlelight flickered, and the sound of an axe was strange. Zhao Defang pushed open the door, with tens of thousands of assassins behind him. “Uncle. You’ve lost.” Possessing the empire was not the end. It was only the beginning.
