Ward Seven

In 2024, the old internal medicine building at Ren'ai Hospital, affiliated with West China Medical University, was set to be demolished. During its final comprehensive inspection before demolition, workers discovered a long-sealed basement ward on the second underground floor, one that had never appeared on the building plans: "Ward Seven." In 1976, an extreme secret study codenamed "Immortal Embryo" was conducted here. An ancient retrovirus, extracted from permafrost buried 3,000 meters underground, was activated. It could rewrite the expression of human cell telomerase, theoretically making cells immortal. But the virus soon mutated beyond control, causing those infected to experience the bizarre phenomenon of "biological clock reversal": their bodies gradually regressed, turning from old people into infants, then reversing all the way to the fertilized egg stage and "disappearing."
